Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Find answers to common questions about Qumo Deploy technology, network topology, and account management.Architecture & Technology
What is Qumo Deploy?
Qumo Deploy is a global control plane and orchestration layer for low-latency media and data forwarding relays built on Media over QUIC (MoQ) and WebTransport. It manages tenant isolation, authentication, ephemeral credentials, and automated billing. How does Media over QUIC (MoQ) differ from WebRTC and HLS?
- vs. HLS / DASH: Legacy HTTP chunk streaming suffers from 2 to 30 seconds of latency. MoQ delivers sub-second real-time streaming with CDN-friendly aggregation.
- vs. WebRTC: While WebRTC achieves sub-second latency, scaling to thousands of concurrent viewers requires expensive Selective Forwarding Units (SFUs). MoQ aggregates traffic through lightweight edge relays, drastically reducing bandwidth and infrastructure costs.
Do web browsers support MoQ natively?
MoQ is currently an active standard draft at the IETF. Browsers support the underlying WebTransport protocol natively, and Qumo provides embeddable player libraries (@qumo/moq) to handle media demuxing and playback.
Accounts & Workspaces
How many workspaces can I create?
Standard accounts can create up to three (3) self-service workspaces. For dedicated enterprise clusters with custom fleet capacity, contact our enterprise support team. Can I invite external team members to my organization?
Yes. Tenant Admins can invite team members via email (/org/members) and assign granular RBAC roles (roles/tenant.admin, roles/project.admin, roles/project.editor, roles/project.viewer).

Billing & Quotas
How is bandwidth consumption calculated?
Bandwidth is metered based on total ingress and egress bytes routed through edge relays during your monthly billing cycle. What happens if I exceed my plan’s included bandwidth?
If your tenant exceeds the included quota (e.g. 100 GB on Pro, 500 GB on Team), your streams are not abruptly cut off. Additional usage is automatically billed at your plan’s contracted overage rate (0.06/GB on Team) and charged via Stripe at the end of the billing period. Can I set budget alerts to prevent unexpected spend?
Yes. Project administrators can configure monthly budget caps and notification alerts via the Web Console (/usage) or REST API (POST /admin/v1/projects/{id}/budget).
